dear luci

day49 - put up with the weather

dear luci,

Tonight's title inspo

well... how do I top last night's entry?1 the answer, boring as it may be, is that you don't try to. the nature of this experiment is that some nights will be little thunderstorms of emotion— a perfect combination of low and high pressure forces, with a few other things thrown in for good measure. Those nights, you feel a lot when you write. Your writing occasionally makes other people feel a lot, too. But sometimes, you can only muster enough feeling for a gentle breeze, a temperate evening spent, say, sitting outside with your friends eating hotpot. I don't think that's any less moving, there's plenty of beauty in stillness. And there's plenty of chaos in it, too. Sometimes you fall to your knees laughing on the footpath because someone told you that when you say the word "Cowabunga"2, it makes them think of the Angry Video Game Nerd. I've been weathering my fair share of tropical storms (in my head), and now that I'm able to focus on rebuilding all that was lost or damaged, I realise how much I appreciate the still, temperate evenings.

But the weather can be a fickle and indecisive broad3, and you kinda gotta learn to make peace with that. And I'm getting there. As I learnt while writing a game semi recently, sometimes storms are best appreciated alongside a furry (or feathered) friend. Or five.

Sweet dreams, Luci <3

  1. You ask it nicely?

  2. Which, for me, is with some regularity.

  3. Bitch, me too. She isn't special.
