day81 - to wash your hair
dear luci,
it is a simple, mundane intimacy to wash someone else's hair. it's also a bit stressful.
don't get shampoo in their eyes, don't waterboard them, don't accidentally rip out their hair.
if they don't need you to do it, they're kind of humouring you in a way-- so you should probably do at least a decent job.
but there's something nice about it. it's a gesture of affection, of patience and care and attention to detail.
i understand why hairdressers do it. beyond the necessity, it's a quiet, gentle (hopefully), caring thing to do. a step above fixing someone's collar before they walk out the door, and one below mutually infodumping about your special interests sex...?? (is that what a normal person would say???).
there aren't many people in my life i'd do this for. and perhaps even fewer i'd actually get the chance to do it for. but it's more symbolic than the act itself. i can only hope those people feel how much i care for them.
sweet dreams <3
